Shipping Boot Problem?

Okay, so I honestly wasn't sure exactly where to put this, but hopefully this thread isn't too out of place. I'm going to begin riding this mare over the summer and take her to her first training three day event in august while her owner is away. I'll be taking her to a cross country schooling between now and then, and her owner told me that she is horrible with shipping boots, and that I shouldnt even bother trying (meaning wrap her both ways, not just leave her legs bare in the trailer.).
My question is, do you agree? Is there really nothing I can do in about a week or so to try to desensitize her? I'll have access to her almost everyday, to start helping her get used to them, I just don't have access to load her and play around with a trailer.
So, are there any training exercises I can do with her to help her like shipping boots more?

I just run into problem with shipping boots couple days ago. My horse manages to step on them, doesn't matter how tight/high they are... And that's the last thing I want to happen in trailer. I don't think there is a way to teach her not to step on, so I just got wraps instead of shipping boots.

I would look into shipping wraps instead of boots. My mare HATES shipping boots, steps on them every time and thrashes and kicks till she gets them off. So I out smarted her, if we are just going somewhere to ride and them come back in the same day I wrap her with polos and bell boots in an exercise wrap and that usually works fairly well for protection since she isn't the quietest trailer horse in the world. If we are going somewhere overnight though or are going to be on a long trailer ride I use pillow wraps and standing wraps with a bit of electrical tape to make sure she is wrapped from knee to coronet band and everything is protected. Since I wrap her legs for every ride she never cares about getting the standing wraps put on plus they are great for after a hard days ride you can pressure wrap them to prevent swelling.
