SMALL ACERAGE??

WHAT WOULD BE THE SMALLEST I CAN GO TO HAVE A DECENT INDOOR RIDING AREA?

40mx20m would be my guess :)

THANK YOU JAZZYRIDER, I WILL HAVE TO DO SOME MEASURING AND SEE IF I CAN FIND A SPOT FOR IT. WITHOUT TAKING THERE AREA AWAY, MAYBE USE PART FOR A SHELTER.

I wouldn't want to go too small, else you run the risk of not being able to work in it! I would (personally) like to be able to do at least 2, 20m circles in it, so you'd be looking at a 40m x 20m arena. That's fairly small, but depending on what you're looking at doing in it, it should work. If you're looking to jump or anything like that, I would consider something bigger. A good-sized arena is 60m x 20m. It allows for 3 20m circles, which is good for training for just about anything.

Corey-Boy, I hear you! I am a fair-weather gal, myself!! I don't like riding in the winter, even though I live in Canada! I used to ride in an indoor arena that wasn't heated, so when we rode hard on chilly winter nights, our horses' sweat would fall back down on us as snow! Gross! Anyways, a 40m x 20m arena would be just fine for you :) best of luck

Yeah considering your circumstances, a 40x20 would be just fine :)

You should check into a Cover-all building (www.coverall.net). I have friends with an indoor arena, it's a heavy canvass dome-shaped roof that was cost effective and efficient and let's in a lot of light. They build a solid wood wall for the bottom and the sides have curtains that you can raise up and down. It stays warmer in winter and cooler in summer.
