Question sniff

So today Lakota goes off for some finishing work. I am so sad. He will be in the best of hands and only up the road but I am really feeling blue. I love to go out to the barn in the morning with my coffee and talk with the horses they are so sweet (because they want FOOD) and they hear my car in the afternoon come up the driveway and the kids and I can see them galloping to the gate to see us. Ok, just had to share my blue thoughts. Has anyone else had a horse go for 30 or so days ? I am worried about the pony . They are really tight they stand next to each other in the field and Lakota sticks his head into the pony's stall and they sleep like that evey day. Any suggestions? I wish I could pay the trainer to take the pony too but he doesn't have an extra stall for him.

I've always done my own training so I've never had the problem of missing my horse for a month or two. Do you have a goat or any other companion for your pony?

BTW where are you in PA? I used to live in Bucks Cnty.

I have nto had to send my horse off for training, but I know its hard, but just think when he gets back he will be nice and broke lol. Go love on the pony, if he will let you or try the goat thing. It will be all good and when he comes back it will be like getting him all over again lol.

What kind of training is your horse going for (what discipline)?

The goal is for him to be my daughters mini stirrup horse. If we can get him to be good in an arena and he has a nice walk a good trot he needs some work on the canter. Cross fingers and toes.

I had one gone for 45 that I felt I couldn't handle myself... I went to see her at the barn every few days, and brushed her there. Talk to the trainer, they shouldn't have a problem with you grooming her, and visiting. I can understand wanting space while they train, but they can't train her 24 hrs.
