Ian.. that was some entertaining.. and some of those horses are really talented buckers (and the riders are pretty talented at staying on).

We need a thread.. "What conformation is best for a bucking horse?"

Been on more than a few that have bucked. O.O Have bought some patches of real estate in all that too (but not often).

You have a problem pony. When a horse bucks like that with ME, it means he started an argument, but I'll finish it. Unless you remedy this, it will get worse. My last answer to a horse that starting bucking was to sell him. 13yo was too old for that stuff.
It tells me that your pony needs more training. One way to deal with it is to let him buck again and ride the Shxx out of that pony until he's wet, dripping and panting. Horses are lazy and he'll remember that the bucking created work. If you don't want to ride him out of it, you can lunge him out of it.
ALSO, discipline him to do absolutely EVERYTHING right, from haltering to leading to backing--any time he steps out of line, correct it, then praise him for the effort. BE the lead broodmare and bully him. Then pet him, after he does it right.
Fix the little things and the big things will take care of themselves.
