Good job! Circling has always been a life saver for me. There is another horse I ride who had his rider during horse camp do circles to collect, and it helped tremendously.

But if you want collection straight off the bat, I'm pretty sure collection in lesser gaits will help a lot. : )

Thank you! I've been working on it. She actually collects pretty nicely in the walk/trot, but we've had issues collecting at the canter mostly due to trying to focus on other things, like slowing down. But today she collected at the trot and then we moved to canter, and she kept her head down and her gait smooth. It was so much more comfortable to ride. She needs to always do that!

Yes, I agree that they favor a side like we favor a hand. She just needs to learn to be ambidextrous!!! Haha. Perhaps I'm also a little more off balanced that way. I'll double check myself during my next ride.
