Back info: My barn in fall 2007 purchashed 4 new school horses, all excellent horses. One is a TB ex-racehorse mare named Charity, who for the end of 2007 and all of 2008 I got the honour of working with in her retraining for being a suited school horse.
She is now being used for lessons and is doing really well. No undersaddle canters yet, just walk/trot undersaddle. I lunge her in all 3 gaits with tack (no rider) and she is abit wobbly on the canter still.
Right now, I would like to start working with her for jumping this year. One student (way older than me, but really a dumb lady) is gushing over how her and Charity are doing so well and she is going to start jumping on her. First, this horse, would have been mine if I had not purchased Murray. I wouldn't mind leasing her still, just money is tight at the moment, so I'm just buying Charity her own gear/tack. So of course, I freak because I'm her/Charity's trainer and no way this lady is jumping my baby girl.
Anyways, aside from my rant over another rider, I am asking for really good information on how to start off Chairty on learning to jump. Any ideas/websites/books? I have a magazine hiding somewhere of young horses learning to jump, but really misplaced it. Thanks.
Here is the girl in question.
