    summer project ideas?

Im thinking about getting a summer project. I've never trained a horse 100% by myself before so this will be a learning process :)

As my first horse several months ago I bought a drugged horse that was so bad it was recommended that she was euthanized before she killed someone. I have a trainer come out to my barn weekly and teach me the skills to properly work with my mare. The difference is so amazing I was able to bring her to horse camp this weekend. I had a dressage trainer pull me aside and offered to buy her for $3000.

I also was told by a natural trainer there that she has an amazing foundation, is a great horse with a lot of potential. He used her for demos. And had me help with teaching the other 4hers training techniques.

Because she is doing so good I would like to work with another horse. But of course if I have any questions or problems ill have my current trainer to ask!

Wondering what the perfect training project for a beginner be?

I was thinking something under 6 years old, aqha, on the shorter side like 14~15.1 hh, quite....

I would like to start one and hopefully resell.

    Any tips? Opinions?

Before I even start looking for a breed id look and see what's selling. Im my area you wouldn't get much for a western horse because hunter jumpers are more in demand.

If you are doing it hopes to make money and you board I would think that would be difficult.

I would make sure that you are willing and able to care for a horse if it turns out to be more than a summer project. Some horses take a long time in training (as you know). I would not get a horse thinking it would be a cake walk and not having the budget to care for it.

Is there a reason you're looking at such small horses I would think resale on that size wouldn't be as good

I just personally like smaller and stocky horses. My current mare is 16.1 and I wish she was shorter lol

I really like the first one. But she is grade. Is that something that would hugely effect resale?

It doesn't matter what you like for a resale project. You have to think about who will be in the market for a horse. It will be much easier to sell a taller horse, unless you are wanting to sell a kids horse.
