Could be lazy from lack of a proper diet. I had a "lazy" horse and added some red blood cell to his diet and he was ready to go after that.
I didn't think the horse in the photo's is over weight.

Instead of asking how to get the mare to move, perhaps the better question asked would be whether your husband could handle it if she jumped out at a gallop. Could he ride it or would he feel the need to shut her down? If the answer is B, the mare probably senses it and is doing him a favor by not getting him killed. Could be a better horse than you're giving her credit for. ;)

Think of your goals in riding, and if the horse can help you reach that goal. If you feel she/he fits you well, then go for it!

Think about what you want in a horse, get a vet check (a must!) and see how it goes.

Good luck finding your perfect horse :)

I'm anxious to get her here and start working with her. Its so sloppy muddy here from all this rain though. Wish it would dry up already! I'm itching to get back in the saddle!
