Smile trading a horse for a horse??

I suppose this isn't the right forum to ask this question but, here goes it.

I would like to trade a green broke(just started under saddle) gelding with great potential for roping, reining, gymkahna, that kind of work and exchange him for a nice quiet mare who has been green broke or better but owner wants a more challenging horse. Does anyone trade up or down anymore??? I only want to have this gelding go to a person who will get him to excell in a sport, as this gelding is far too strong and high spirited for me when all I want is a slow poke trail rider Should I advertise or wait til he has a few miles under his belt. Would appreciate some input here!.

well i have a friend that is a horse trader for a living. a lot of people trade in horses for better ones or ones that are more appropriate to them. Id put in an ad and see what comes up. if you wind up trading up for a better horse that has had more training...you may have to add some boot though. id first run an ad and see whats out there.

Default Trading?

My sister had basically the same situation about three years ago when she had a Thoughbred X Morab cross mare that was way too highstrung for her and she traded her for a older paint cross that was more suitable for her. So, trading still does go on. I would put up a ad to see what you could get for him. I am not sure how much, with the way the market is right now but...it sounds like it could possibly be a good trade.

Everyone has different needs, just find someone who has outgrown/ doesn't need their old laid back mare and offer them this nice young prospect. I just recently traded my shetland pony stud for two registered mares, an app and an arab. There's a million different ways to trade.
