Everytime I try to load my horse when we're about to go to a show, he's fine. But when I load him as we're leaving the show, he will whinny and pigroot, creating a big scene for attention. How can I stop this?
Is this perhaps residual behavior of stress? I know that horses will get stressed at shows and events, and at the end of the day, the build up from all of the excitement can create a difficult horse, even when it comes time to load up and leave. Try some practice runs at the end of a show, just as you would work them at home. Reassure their confidence at the end of the day!
