I'd say start laying the laws down on him if you haven't already. Only make good behavior acceptable. If you don't want him in your space while leading more him out, if you don't want him to nip you knock him in the nose, if you don't want him diving for grass reprimand him.
I'd also work on whoa and other voice command while lunging.

Thanks! I've used the Parelli games with another TWH who had no trust and had been heavily abused, after a couple weeks of that it was a huge improvement with trust and manners.
He doesn't understand the voice commands at all lol, he has had them taught, he just likes to ignore it.
When I am leading him, he tries to run ahead, he won't stand still, he tries to walk over me, and I also have problems catching him.
Most of his problems are obedience problems, he's very spirited and he has it in his mind that he will do whatever he wants. How can I break him of this and earn respect? I don't want him to be afraid of me, but I want him to know that it will not be comfortable for him if he doesn't do what is asked.
