    Tricks?

Hey I need some tips on more response working bridle-less. Yes, I already do and my mare is fine, just not always very responsive... and also anyone have any neat tricks to teach? I just need to ground and slow stuff right now because of rehabbing reasons.. Yes she's fine.. but Im just finding fun stuff that I can teach and get more bonded in this process.
    Thanks! :)

As for riding bridleless - do you mean just bitless or with no headstall at all?

If I ride a horse with no headstall at all, I sometimes use two jumping bats, one in each hand, and, if the horse chooses not to respond to a light seat or leg cue, I give him a light tap in the needed area with one or both bats (as necessary). I'm careful not to let my seat or leg cues become harder, they always have to remain very light and are reinforced only by the bats. Of course, this doesn't mean beating the horse with the bats, just giving a very clear and rythmical cue, and the circumstances show whether the bat just has to be waved near horse's body or actually touch him. Thus the horse learns to be very responsive, not challenge me for using harder cues. Good luck! :)
