So, today I went out to the farm to see my horses. Lakota is over at my brother's place, and I forgot to leave a halter in the shed, so I was hoping that he would just stand still while I groomed him and sprayed him down with fly spray. He did perfectly, even though I haven't messed with him in a few days and my brother's stupid Border Collie would not stop barking.
Anyway, then I went to go mess with Newt. A few days ago, I was starting to think that my old gelding had been replaced with a hot barrel horse, because last week he just wanted to go fast, prance, and sling his head everywhere. He even bucked with me a few times while we were out in the pasture. -.-
But today, he shocked me with how well he did. I was expecting to ride a complete powerhouse, but he stayed at a flat-footed walk and kept his head level the entire time. He was a perfect gentleman. :) And I am sooo happy to say that he loves this new hackamore that I got him.
Newt is not a fan of bits. In fact, as soon as you put one in his mouth, his ears pin back. And if you ride him with a bit, it's basically the end of the world (He doesn't have any problem with his mouth/teeth. I've had him checked several times). Today he just moved like a dream while he was wearing the hackamore, and it was such a beautiful day to ride. <3
Here's some pictures! :)

Oh, and there was an amazing sunset at the playday yesterday. I got a quick shot while someone was running the speed event. IMG_20130628_205550.jpg
