So I can't decide what I want to work on with my horses tonight. I am going to start by checking on my older mare's udder issue and that will determine what, if anything, I get to do with her; if it's improved I thought I'd hop on and keep working with her on sidepassing. I'm also having an itch to teach her some more showy movement like (I do not know the term, sorry) where they pick their front legs up really high in dressage. That would be super fast because she is REALLY smart and already knows how to lift her legs, I'd just have to teach her to do it while walking.
Or; I LOVE reining and have been dying to try it and I could work with her on that to teach myself how to teach it to my other horse; or I could just start working with my other horse on that kind of stuff again since she is coming out of limbo, and giving her a "job" might engage her mind and make it easier to work with her again anyway. (She has been having some issues since we moved barns last year...)
I really wish my older mare was 100%... I could teach her this stuff in an instant and probably do some schooling shows this season with enough practice, just for fun; but she isn't reliable on her right side and I don't like pushing her. My younger mare, while she tries hard, is so barn-bound that showing her is out of the question right now; and she's so far behind in training that the basics are really all I ever have time to work on with her... we are STILL working on picking up leads.
At any rate, I can only pick one to work on tonight, so I'm not sure which! Do I want to start a small project, or a big one?
