2 videos from today's trail ride with Lacey! plus one...

They aren't anything too exciting but Lacey is generally cute, and her mane is just long enough that it's flopping everywhere which is pretty darn adorable, imo.

Isn't her head-bob impressive? She just gets into the whole walking thing. Haha!

The first one is on our way back home, about half way there. We just made it up a big hill from where we always do our trotting and cantering. Note how she rates herself while going down that hill, she's ADORABLE.

This is when we were maybe 5 minutes from home. Her field is to our left. (also, note that I didn't cue her to start walking with anything more than that "ok" )

And this one is from the other day. I was sick and messing around. I had a really cute video of her eating her cookie but in transferring it from my camera to my laptop, it was deleted. :( But, she's licking my hand in this one which is also amusing.

Also, I think I figured out her jerk-y behavior lately, I think she just wants to run more. I've been trying to make sure to get a solid 10-15 minutes of trotting and cantering in each of our rides and she's been doing much much better. I've been doing the whole "go until she's asking to stop" thing so that she learns to rate herself and it's been working like a charm! She seems to have learned that walking is good when I just want her to walk but she's also perfectly willing to GOOOOO!! Haha

Good times. :) I hope you enjoy the videos!

Her head bob is adorable!!!

Maggie used to do this step out, head swing thing. It was sooo odd, but you could tell she loved the trails.

Lacey is such a cutie!!!

I know what you mean! I was so scared when I first rode Lacey in just a halter, but as it turns out, she's actually way more under control the way I was riding her there than when she's actually in a bridle with 2 reins! I have taught her a bunch of voice commands though so I feel a lot safer in the even that she were to throw caution to the wind. Haha And, it doesn't hurt that my torso/arms is/are long enough that I can grab her halter with very little effort.
It's pretty cool to be able to trust her like that, I feel really free when I know that the only reason I'm controlling her is because she's allowing me to.

She cracks me up! She's such a serious walker, like "I'm getting us from point A to point B in the most proper way possible, boss!"

I took these with you in mind, my friend! Yay!

She does enjoy her trails! It took her a bit to really decide she liked them but now she's a machine on the trail. I actually clocked her the other day and her average walking speed is about 12mph. O.o

I just LOVE her head bob too. I just want to grab her neck and snuggle it while she's walking (however, I've tried and she is not amused by silly antics on her back while she is getting us somewhere, silly girl!). I think the thing with her head bob is that she's actually doing a bit of a running walk, but since no one has actually ever taken a video from the ground of her doing it, I have no way to actually tell! haha

Thanks! :)
