Does this bother anybody else how she holds her hands??

She is training this horse and holding her hands in this position means that the horse can also see the hands better and it helps the horse understand what signal she is giving it. It's kindof like a an overexageration of a signal. I've seen more trainers do it too

Why do you insist on posting videos of other people? It is rude. This person did not ask for a critique.

I can see this two ways:

1. Her video is on youtube, and therefore public.
2. People have nothing better to do than criticize other people to make themselves feel better.

no she didn't. But the OP asked why she was holding her hands that way. It's a perfectly fine question and nothing personally against the person in the video

And Velvet is correct, the OP has two threads like this locked already. The forum has rules about posting random videos and commenting on them.

If she was asking about how she held her hands...a more appropriately named thread would be....

"What does holding your hands like this do?"
or
"Is there a reason behind why someone would hold their hands like this?"

But by saying... "Does this bother anybody else how she holds her hands?" is a critique like manner.

Whether or not she phrased her question correctly to others tastes, I think the rider is trying to accomplish a few things at the same time.

I think she is working on keeping the horses nose behind the vertical (which as absurd as I think it is, is common for pleasure arabs which can be observed through the manner in which the horse is slogging or walkaloping or whatever). I also think she is working on seat commands and by holding her hands at such a funny place is forcing herself to keep them still and use her seat to cue the horse. It the same time I think she is also working on her posture as seen when she keeps her eyes glued on the mirrors. It could be one or all of these things or none for all we know, she could be just riding weird to do it, who knows.
