Eight year Holsteiner/Trakehner mare just started in training

I'm very new to this forum. I've lurked quite a while. Was curious of what you all think of my 8 year old mare who was just started under saddle. These are videos of her 30 days after sending her to a trainer. She's never been ridden until I sent her.

I would appreciate any input you have.

Her trot looks so flowing and smooth. Nice collection. She is beautiful :)

I agree, she has really nice reach and cadence at the trot.

However, I don't see the same qualities so much in her canter. Someone more experienced than I can probably give you a better review of her movement. Perhaps she is more hollow at the canter?

I don't particularly like how she is behind the bit on the trotting video, but her inexperience is most likely causing this as she is just starting. On the plus side, she seems to be using her neck in a way that will not be detrimental to proper muscle growth. Far to many horses nowadays seem to be developing a divot right in front of the withers from improper muscle development/neck positioning/forcing a frame.

Ack! Forgot to explain that I don't think your horse's canter is bad! I just don't see it as being as great/excellent as the trot! Her canter has excellent rhythm. I feel she has great potential that will be realized with time and proper riding.

Thanks so much for your input! I think this was probably her third canter lesson, so hopefully it will improve. She has a lot to learn with balance, etc.
