Horses on the Treadmill

Ok I get that they want to check for problems in their airways, but doesn't this seem dangerous without a safety harness? Especially that Thoroughbred running at top speed, if something happened and he tripped that wouldn't be pretty. What do you think?

I don't know about safety... to me the safest thing would be for him to be able to get off the treadmill or have an emergency off button.

But man that was cool seeing the thoroughbred full out run on a treadmill :)

I can't tell for sure, but it looks like there are special boots put on their hooves? Better grip?

That was very cool and looks like the horses get the hang on it pretty quickly. Loved the pony!

They don't just test for breathing they test heart rate as well as oxygen levels. I have worked with a few on these devices and they do catch on pretty quick. I have also had the "Pleasure" of seeing how the oxygen chamber works with horses. And of course good ol swimming and aqua tred. I could only dream of having these devices to use when needed. More so the pool and the oxygen chamber.

This is a amazing procedure and does wonders for horses as well as people.
