Lovin' My Greenie!

So Dice is awesome I am so in love with this horse. He's 3 and a half but acts like he's been ridden his whole life! We're still taking everything slow and I mix things up all the time so he doesn't get bored(which is hard because after he figures something out he's like ok I'm bored what's next!) His only "vice"(and it's not even a vice really just kind of annoying) is he grabs the left rein in his mouth sometimes. It's not to pull the rein out of my hand he literally just while we're walking or trotting he'll just reach over and grab it and continue happily doing whatever with it in his mouth. I was kinda ignoring it but it gets annoying sometimes haha. He used to do it with the leadrope while I was leading him but he stopped so maybe he'll grow out of this too? Any ideas to stop it? I usually just hold the rein up out of his reach and once he realizes he can't get it he doesn't try again.

Any time you're working with him he's a mature level minded horse then turn him loose and let him roll and he's a baby again haha.

Also ignore some the the "looks like he's fighting the bit" things if you notice them. He's really not I noticed the bit is hitting his wolf teeth and he has an appt to have them removed as well as a float next friday so until then we'll be playing with round pen work =)

Looking great! I know this isn't for critique but I'm just curious as to why you mount on the right side though? It isn't necessarily wrong (we teach ours to let us mount either side and lots of ropers in my area do it), I'm just wondering if theres any particular reason.

He looks very level headed under saddle, which is great to see! I'm sure he'll make a killer riding horse as he progresses.

As for the mounting from the right basically same as you. Since he's in training I'm pretty much goign to throw anything and everything I can think of at him that he might come to later on(though I don't ever plan on selling him but just in case) I've aslo gotten him used to a back cinch I don't use them but if god forbid I had to sell him and someone used it on him he would already know what it was.

Haha I like ot mix it up every once in a while. I'll mount from the left then dismount from the right or visa versa or get on and off the same side. This day I just happened to mount from the right and get off on the left...it's different for every lesson
