Movie making

I have recently gotten interested in making some movies with the pictures and videos I have but am struggling to find a program that seems worthy. I haven't tried anything yet but was wondering what you have used and had success with?
I've heard of picasa 3 and movie maker?

Sony Vegas is a good one, but it costs money.

Movie Maker doesn't cost any money , and it works well ;) I've used this one for 2 years , and I think it's a good program :)
