Dressage Days.

My barn holds it every summer.

I placed fourth out of nine, but what's most awesome about my ride was that my horse is such a struggle to get on the bit. It seriously takes hours of riding to achieve it if that at all, he's making pprogress, but slowly.

As soon as I got into the ring his head went down. I was stunned :O

Here's our ride, I know some of our circles weren't perfect, that my stretch trot circle was supposed to be rising (got marked down for that) and that my horse lacked impulsion, that was my major down point.

But, we placed well for our errors.

I am 99.9% sure what barn you ride at as I'm from MA too. And I know Mickey! He came from the barn I ride at where he was a lesson horse. I really loved him, but he was a bit much for some of the younger kids so he was sold to King Oak. I heard they were really enjoying him and he eventually found his own owner. I'm so glad he's doing well! He looks really good. <3

Maybe we can chat sometime, I'd love to heard about how Mickey has been. And I'm sure my instructor would too.

Oh my gosh, what a small world! What barn are you from?

Well. At the time when Mickey showed up at King Oak, me and my mother were looking for a new lease horse/ potential buy. Mickey showed up and I rode him one day during a lesson and immediately fell in love, after a few more rides and my mom trying him out as well we decided he was the one to lease. After a few months of leasing, we ended up purchasing him, we board him at King Oak, he loves it.



He's doing great, and what a magnificent jumper he is! I swear I point him at any fence, any size, and he'll jump it without thinking twice, he's such a good boy and he's never refused a fence with me ever in stadium. I'm hoping to event him in the fall we just have to work on our cross country a bit more he's very willing but a little spooky/hesitant :)

Coggin Creek Stables is where I ride.

I'm glad you love him so much! During them time he was a CC most of the riders were too inexperienced for him, so it was decided he'd do better at a barn where he would be more useful. Plus my instructor was down sizing, and he wasn't doing a lot of lessons, so he ended up at King Oak.

Mickey was always a fabulous jumper! Those of us experienced enough to ride him loved taking him over fences. When he first came to CC believe it or not he did a bit of refusing. Dumped a rider or two ducking out, but it got worked out of him and he ended up being an awesome boy who would jump anything. I was sad to see him go, so it's a huge relief to hear he's doing so well! I'm sure he'll do great for you as an eventer once he gets more used to it. <3

I'll be sure to tell my instructor he's doing great. She'll love to hear that, especially since she just got out of the hospital so she could use some good news.

Oh and when my horses were first at Coggin Creek Dallas(my show horse) and Mickey were turned out together. Until Mickey told annoying Dallas who's boss and they were separated. Lol Dallas needed it though, he's a bit full of himself.

Wow! Hard to imagine Mickey as bossing other horses around, he's in a large group turn out now and I'm pretty sure he's not at the top of the pecking order. Some sundays when the horses don't get turned out I turn him out with his horse buddy Riley and Riley is always chasing him around.

I can believe he's refused in the past, there's some fences, like the coop jump, that he gives the biggest stink eye to. I swear he's afraid the coop is going to jump out an attack him cause even when it's out of the ring and placed aside on the rail he shys away from it, it's humorous, he'll jump it but he'll jump it like it's on fire, lol!

Mickey was the bottom of the herd until we put Dallas in with them. Dallas tried to boss Mickey around and he was having none of it. Lol Dally got a nice bite to the butt. Mickey did let a tiny pony push him around though. It was pretty hilarious to watch. And his best buddy was a chestnut QH named Elmo.

Haha I can see him doing that. Mickey was always on the cautious side about things. Not so much 'spooky' as nervous about some new things. He's always been that way. Lol.

CC is pretty close to KOF, different towns, but close. :)
