Meet Navara, my 7 year old Hanoverian x TB.
She has had quite a hard time of her life so far, and so when I bought her, a timid mare with an attitude problem and an explosive nature, I decided to start her life over. She has had a lot of problema skeletally and muscular due to a deformed hind leg (birth defect) after a year of physio, chiropractors and massage she is really proving people wrong, she has gone from being 'Worthless, waste of time, evil, horrible" etc etc to a truly amazing little mare with a lot to give.
It has not been an easy journey and she still tests me regularly but we are getting there and the possibilities are endless.
I started trick training her and using clicker training as a way to get her to be caught and led, she used to plant a lot and I would spend hours persuading her to leave the field, many times I cried, considered selling her, and doubting myself, but consistant handling, and a mother who wouldn't let me give up created a horse I love and trust with all my heart.
See the difference
Our most recent, Navara showing quite clearly her restricted movement in her hind leg, but proving it will not stop her having fun
Taken a few weeks ago, showing willing, the first time she had been ridden properly in a while, she struggles a lot with the hind leg and I have decided to retire her from ridden work completely. Enjoy her :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OX6caV89czQ
Taken back in the summer, some tricks and real progress from this once timid and very confused little mare.
Please subscribe to us, and leave me some comments. We are not professionals, just two 'people' searching for a better understanding. This is something she enjoys, she is very intelligent and likes to feel 'useful' and even when we are not training she will often perform tricks for me and make me smile.
