Riding Xavier, who is a beauty

Today was my last riding lesson in Wales, as I'm heading down to Bath for my second year of uni tomorrow. I won't be riding down there for a while, sadly. I've been having private lessons, but this was my first group lesson.

I also rode a horse who I've never ridden before. Xavier is a French part-thoroughbred and ridden by better riders; he's got more muscles and is more capable of the better stuff. I'm not, but I'm glad I got a chance to ride him!

Most of the lesson was spent leg yielding, in circles and along the straight, but here's some of the warm-up. Xavier hates to canter and has a bad habit of slowing as he comes out of corners; I was trying to keep him going but when I had a wonderful whirl all around the arena Mum didn't get it on film xD I know my hands flop about a lot in my transitions; I wasn't sure what to expect for Xavier's transition into canter so I didn't bother focusing on trying to stop that, though it is something I'm working on with my riding.

Mostly, though, I just want to share the beautiful Xavier. He's such a gorgeous sweetie and I'm glad I got to have a go with him before I left!

Here he is!

In case it's not obvious, I'm the rider with the navy jods and pale blue top that the video is focusing on :P
