Rigo has been with me now for 10 weeks and yesterday we made our show debut as a new team. The tests weren't earth shattering but reasonably respectable. We had a glitch in every single test of some sort, some my fault some his, but each glitch was corrected in the subsequent test. Not sure if he was feeding off of my nerves, he had some nervous/excited energy or a combination of the two but the first test was, well, interesting..he was just a wee bit excited :) but he settled more at each subsequent test and by the third test was his usual self..so much so I missed his cue he was going to drop out of the canter a couple strides early..ah well :). Scores were 69.8; 69.3 and 71.4 as Tl -1, 2 and 3 respectively. He placed third in T1, and first in 2 and 3. Unfortunately the two better tests didn't get taped.
We had some outside obstacles..a helicopter buzzed the barn just as we were coming into a canter trans so we had a little dancing spook (that is in this vid) and there is also some clear yelling int he background..we had an audience on a balcony of one of the houses that face that ring and they were "cheering" (re: yelling and making racket trying to spook the horses) at each person's ride. Fortunately Rigo tuned out those "people" but the helicopter he just couldn't ignore :)
I am very pleased with the day's efforts and we are getting more in sync with each other every day.
