    Update on Molly's Training(:

She'd been working really hard for a month so I decided to reward her with a month off, because I'm nice like that. Plus I needed to start working my other trainee for the winter. LOL.
After the month off she was a little hot the first ride (she did small rears when I tried mounting her because she was so hyper, but stood after a moment) and was all go. Now she's acting like the perfect kids pony unless you want her to leg yield, turn on the haunches, or turn on the forehand because she still doesn't get 100% what I'm asking her to do. (Yes I have done it to her on the ground, and all I have to do now is hold my hand up and move into her shoulder or hip and she moves that particular area.)
She's softening at the poll pretty consistently now, except at the walk no matter how much time I spend on it. (Would love tips on getting her to soften at the poll)
I'll try and get a video of me riding and some pictures but I have to bribe someone into taking pictures and its been windy here so I have no place to put my laptop without it falling over.

Here is her back up on the ground, and for those who don't know she couldn't back up at all when I got her 3months ago. As you can see we're still working on the halter-less one. My hand is going like 30mph.

I don't quite remember how things were when you posted earlier, so forgive me if I dont' truly appreciate how far you have come.
In the video she is certainly backing nicely off of your body language. The only I saw there was in the third time that you sent her back, when she hesitated, for some reason you backed away, one small step. But otherwise, looked good. If you can back her even more, while your feet stay in one place and you move her away from you a step or two more, you could then start laying the rope on the ground and work that into teaching her to ground tie.

As for her getting fizzy when you are on, and worrysome with turn on haunches and such, I wonder if that has more to do with her still not being comfortable with things rubbing on her sides, like your leg/boot. Maybe doing some more work with having stuff up against her, flopping on her as you go to work her on lunge or in round pen so that she is less worried about pressure and activity along her sensitive sides.

Its OK, when I got her you had to do a lot of tugging to get her backwards just a step. LOL.

I didn't really back a step just kind of stopped because I was getting on top of her too much. I want her to be able to back up when I'm not on top of her, that is why I looked hesitant.

    That's our next stage.

That's what I thought too but I can throw the lunge line on her, the saddle pad, whip, anything all over and she's fine. Shoot I even flop on her and everything. LOL.

    I see.
Well, that's what first came to mind. Maybe it's too soon for things like turn on the haunches . Maybe just more go forward and stay relaxed.

Yeah, I'm not really pushing it, just practicing it after the ride for a few minutes along with back up, flex to both sides, and leg yield. She has forward down pact. LOL.

ground manners, molly, srcm16, training, update
