Last night I suddenly missed Bishop more than normal. Bishop was our stables schoolmaster; a now retired 24 year old bay TB, with only one eye. People said he would never be rideable again, but he took me and my friend to our first shows, and took her to Nationals.
Bishop is a diamond among horses, he was willing, kind, and gentle to everyone, and he was trusted with kids as little as 3 years old. He would change his way of doing things based on the rider, and many many children fell in love with him.
But in Dec last year, he suddenly dropped all his weight. He's always been a little on the thin side, but this was worse We tried until Feb to change it, but we realised he couldn't handle the climate of our region, so he went to a wonderful home. The thing is that his new home his further than we expected; it is a 10 hour drive, so chances are I will never see him again
. I love this horse so much, all of us do, and it breaks our heart to think that we can never see him again, but at least he is in a wonderful new home where we hear he is gaining weight very quick. So that is a happy, comforting thought :)
I made this little video about him... The song is from Lord of the Rings, I think it suited our feelings last night. Enjoy it, and sorry about the essay
