Willow (aka Porkchop, Fatgirl, McNugget, or #$%^&*$#@ sometimes)

So Amarea manned the camera while I gave Willow her ride tonight. We are currently riding bareback because with all the saddles on the property, including 2 draft trees, no saddle fits her well enough at her current weight to really prevent soreness, and Willow needs a lot of hours being ridden right now!

Note some may question my wisdom of riding in bright pink crocs when this same pony obligingly broke a toe of mine yesterday for being dumb enough to wear sandals around her. I have no excuse other than I am a glutton for punishment. Go ahead. Yell at me. It won't help. I'll do it again tomorrow.

And seriously, I can ride guys, I normally don't swing my legs around like cooked spaghetti. But it's honetly all I can do to keep this darn pony MOVING!

(a slightly more serious disclaimer - the area I am riding her looks deceptive, it's actually very uneven ground. I parked my truck on it all last winter and there are ruts. She is not actually favoring at any point, although at a few bits she looks like she is)

Yes, Willow has gone wading through the cockleburrs. We DID remove them after these clips were taken, and put her in pasture braids, see?

The temptation to cut the audio to these clips, and replace them with "Baby Got Back" was overwhelming, but I figured if I did Amarea would start throwing things at me.

I'm just sayin'....

I couldn't see the video but im sure it is amusing! Love the pasture braids. We keep our haffie braided all the time otherwise he runs sweat under his double mane.

Oh and Rosie wants to give Willow a message. She thinks she needs a cheeseburger! LOL

Good job with her! Im still looking for something saddle wise to fit rosie...if I come across anything, Ill letcha know!

Cori, youtube tells me it is performing site upgrade, and the video will be working shortly lol

I think we have at least 3 saddles here that will fit Willow nicely once her back isn't on inside out lol

LOL I know what you mean...Rosies is disappearing but its still there. Her shoulders are just massive and her biggest fat deposits sit right behind her withers. Even with a draft saddle...it just looks funky. I think I need a 10" gullet for her. I have an 8" right now.

I did get to see the videos and I think I know who Willow reminds me of. My daughter. Those bucks...I have seen that in human form. That's the "I SAID NO MOM" lol. Keep on laughing girls...shes coming along!

Cori, altogether she bucked around 8 times at the beginning of the ride today, and it's awful hard to stop laughing long enough to try to correct her, but unfortunately we had camera malfunctioned and didn't get those taped - that along with the flying leap I took onto her back that I was fairly proud of lol. (seriously, you should see me try to get on my horses most the time. I've afforded Amarea great amusement at my expense) But by the end of the ride she was minding quite well, and while it's a constant struggle to keep her moving, she was responding better to the reins and turning with much less over-emphasized guidance. I can't imagine she's been much more than a leadline pony, to be honest, but she was good as gold when we put our two boys on her after I was done and led them around.

*snickers* I always rode barefoot as a kid when I rode bareback, and often I still do. It always makes me laugh when people say it's dangerous - if I fall off that bugger, I somehow doubt my bare feet are going to be the body part I'm most concerned about hurting.

I am in disbelief over how something that short can be that big. She truly looks like a Belgian chopped off at the knees! She's absolutely freaking adorable, I love her buck and her prompt look of "Oh right, that never works, sigh, back to behaving"=."
