Buying a horse with proud flesh

So I went to try out a horse who I really like, I ticked all the boxes off but there is one thing bothering me about him. He had a bad cut which is not yet completely healed. He got it in November. It is half the size it was but probably still almost the size of your palm. It has proud flesh and will still take a few months to heal but he looks and felt sound. It is not bothering him to touch it. Its not in a joint area either. It is quite ugly though.
I was planning on getting him vetted and his owner is confident that he will vet out.
Would you be hesitant buying a horse with that type of injury? Would you ask for a trial period or for more negogiation on price because of it?

Also does anyone know the liklihood that it could turn into a sacroid?

It is definetly a bargaining tool due to the size of the scar it will be. I am assuming that looks is not an issue. You could ask for the trial period to ensure no lameness. Just my two cents worth. I am not sure about the sacroid. I would ask my vet about that.

Proud flesh won't 'turn into' sarcoids. Sarcoids are tumors. While there's a type that resemble proud flesh, they most definitely aren't.

My TB gelding has an ugly scar on his right back leg, right under the hock joint. Hasn't caused him any issues, and he's completely sound.

If you're concerned about his soundness, get a PPE done.
