Buying vent....

For a little less than I year I wanted a quarter horse. A gelding, color doesnt matter but less than 9 years old and already wearing a saddle and carrying a rider... very green broke- advanced I looked at them all. Anything $4000 or less I was interested in.

I FINALLY found my dream horse, I went to see him last saturday; and on the way home (10 minutes after I left) I called her back and said I would take him. Paying the full $4000 in cash wasnt an issues.
I told her I would e-mail her Monday or Tuesday (sunday was easter) with the address to where the horse was going. I'm keeping him at a neighbors and I just wanted to give her a heads up that this horse was the one and make sure we were on the same page yet...

Well I got an e-mail this morning saying the woman sold the horse to someone else who came and took him along with paid for him right away...

I cannot even begin to tell you how bummed out I am, not angry, just bummed.
There is/was nothing else close to me (within 2 hours) that I want to even look at... ugh.

I told the woman I was serious, she had no problem with me buying him at all, and I thought it was a done deal until she could pick a day to ship him... I guess I was wrong. What a waste of excitment.

Wow, I'm sorry :( That is very depressing. If it helps, I thought I had my horse sold so I could get a shorter trail mare, and the family said they couldn't come up with the money.

I hate it when that happens. I'm sorry! :(

I don't blame the lady, becuase if you can sell the horse you sell the horse. I completely understand why she did it.

I kinda get the idea though that perhaps she decided to keep him, she wasnt real happy about selling him and she had several others for sale and told me if she was to keep any he would be the one, but whoever sells first goes... so perhaps she sold some others and decided to keep him.

Good thing I enjoy horse shopping.

I have been through this EXACT same thing. I went out on a Monday before work to look at a gorgeous Trakehner, totally fell in love. I didn't have a trailer with me at the time (figured we could arrange something after the fact, and I didn't think I'd fall in love with her). Told her I'd be back after work to pick her up. Called before I left to go out there again, and she had sold her to another lady (whom which I know from another farm, ironically) who showed up with cash in hand (and transportation).

Sucks, but sometimes that's the way it goes. Just look at the bright side, your pasture mate is out there looking for you too and maybe this was supposed to happen so you can find the real one! Glass 1/2 full!

On a side note, it's taken me years to find the right mount. Before my accident two years ago I looked for a YEAR AND A HALF. I brought one horse to the farm for a trial. I fell in love with him too...his name was Liam. Sadly he didn't pass the vet check for reasons I thought were valid so I sent him back. After that I called it quits. No more looking at that point in my life. I'm still of the mind set that when the timing is right I will get my right mount, and we will hopefully see a good 20 years together. Good luck with your search!
