FREE horse in Pennsburg PA

Not my horse, just passed along to me through a thoroughbred email list I'm on. The owner is going to have him euthanized if she can't find a home for him. He has ringbone and sidebone, but is sound without shoes ATM. If anyone is looking for a hacking or trail horse, he could be it!

Again, its not my horse. I don't even know the woman. I know a woman who knows her. All of her contact info is in the craigslist ad.

my dad was gonna get him and pay for someone to bring him down because my mom wants a horse, yes she prefers a racking horse but its what my dad wants for her and thinks is best for her because she has rumitoid arthritis.

Kjs, an 18 y/o TB with ringbone and sidebone isn't going to stay sound long.

If your mother has rheumatoid arthritis, a gaited horse is her best bet. An older TB with foot issues is quite possibly the worst choice for her and the horse.

You should be able to find any number of QHs or even gaited horses in your own area. Why would your father want to pay to ship an older TB with medical issues that are going to leave him completely lame sooner rather than later?

Seriously, none of your explanations make any sense.

If your father wants a horse for your mother, he can go out and find one himself. I highly doubt that he's leaving it up to a teenager to determine how and on what he's going to spend his money.

he needs a good home, doesnt sound suitable for riding at all really, maybe very light walking/ hacking. would be a good pasture companion. i would take him if i could :) hope he find a good retirement x

Oh, and another thing, just because it peeves me to no end.

Don't try to play on my sympathy by saying things like, "If I don't find Pookie a good home, he'll be sent to auction/sold to the killers/euthanized."

You want to know why people shouldn't do that? Because it only pisses me off beyond belief. Instead of sympathy for the poor, beleaguered owner, I just want to wring their neck for not taking care of the problem themselves!

Oh, the horse isn't really rideable and can't even be comfortable without shoes and tons of expensive medications, but I don't want to be bothered. So unless someone takes him on, I'll be forced to do something unthinkable. Gah!!!

An 18 y/o horse with ringbone and sidebone would probably be better off being euthed, than shipped off somewhere to God knows what fate.

Awww, what a handsome boy. He's not too far from me. Unfortunately, there are so many pasture horses around here that need a home it's going to be tough to find someone to take this boy in. Friends of mine have a QH gelding available to a great local home in his late 20s that is still able to give lessons, trail ride, even do the local shows. He's completely healthy, sound and kid safe. He's been looking for a new home for three months!
