Help, please?

I need help.
There is this mare that I have been training, and I consider her mine, just to clarify anything I might say referring her to being owned by me. Well the person who owns her, I am friends with, and her kids have told me that they are going to give me the mare. Well she is very little and I personally don't want to own a paint. Well my grandmother has agreed to them to give me her for my birthday. Well I'm not supposed to know that I'm getting her, but I don't exactly want her, I want a different horse but I don't know how I should come upon letting people know this.

That's tricky since you aren't supposed to know that you're going to get her and I'm sure you don't want to hurt anyone's feelings! Is there a particular horse you have in mind? You could just drop little hints and comments about how much you really want that horse and go on and on about how wonderful he is... maybe say something like "I really like (mare) but if I were to get a horse I think I'd want something like (other horse)..."

I would just fess up that you know. Tell whoever is doing the giving that you would prefer another horse, or you may end up with one you don't want. Its a big commitment and cost to have a horse you don't really feel you can have a relationship with. I think whoever is giving the horse would appreciate your honesty.

You don't want Hoopie? I can understand why =[. I would tell your grandma that you don't think hoopie is the right horse for you. She can't talk you the placses you want to go with horses. Let her know that. When my parents bought me Emu and I wanted to sell him about 4 months after they where mad, but they undestood why I wanted to sell him. He dosen't move, and he isn't going to be big enough. Maybe your Grandma will understand....maybe.
