How much to list them for? Any ideas?

I have decided to place my appaloosa mare and her 3 month old foal up for sale they won't actually be advertised until later this month possibly next month due to us not having enough time to show them to possible buyers.

Mary Anne is a Varnish Red Roan Appaloosa mare, she has really smooth gaits and was shown in speed events, western horsemanship, western pleasure, and trail last year. She enjoys attention and is a very good mother. She would make a nice trail horse or speed horse. She delivered her foal in February, 2012. The foal is a beautiful blanket sorrel filly. Her father is double registered ApHC/ApHCC stallion A Fancy Moon. Neither mare nor foal are registered. The foal is doing well in halter breaking and has been trimmed by the farrier, she stood very well. Both have coggins for this year.

    Mary Anne:

    A Fancy Moon(Skittle's sire):
(He's standing kinda funky, but its the best I have)

Any ideas on what I should have as a base asking price?

I was going to say $3500-$4000. Then seen they aren't registered.

    I'd say $2500. Maybe start at $3000.

Do NOT go under $1,500. She's been successfully shown, the new owner could STILL register them both, and she's a RIDEABLE horse for sale.
Wishing you good luck finding them a good home. =D

How old is she (the mare?) What was the stud fee on the stallion? I'm thinking about $3500 as long as the mare is under 12 or so.

The mare is 14. There was no stud fee on the stallion(lets just say the rescue had some volunteers that when unsupervised thought it was funny to watch the stallions breed the mares.) The mare has no known pedigree.

It really depends on YOUR market, prices vary dramatically depending on what part of the country you are in. In this area you would be lucky to get $1000.

I agree with Bella. Around here, most people ride english, so western horses don't sell for as much. I would say around $2500 for both, but as was already said, it really depends on your market.
