I am looking for a retired race horse in southern Alberta, Canada

Hi, I currently own a lovely, 18 year old TB mare who has never raced and unfortunately can't be bred so I am interested in finding a younger TB to ride and train to jump small jumps. Thankyou for any information, Charlotte

You should have been looking a month or two ago, there were a lot around a at the end of the season. If you are on FB check out the horses wanted Canada, and various sales boards for the prairie provinces.

The mare in the above link did find a home. She is still trying to work things out with the gelding adn get him a home too though. In MB there is also Final Furlong. They netowrk racehorses looking for new homes. Still a good amount left from this year needing homes and who knows, some owners may have them closer to you now that they are all moved from the track =)

Check out Home Stretch Thoroughbreds, they are Alberta based: http://homestretchthoroughbreds.yolasite.com/ They also have a facebook page.

They are a fairly new organization similar to Canter that connects owners to potential buyers. They have had some cute horses come through, and the prices are very reasonable.
