looking for a horse

So here's the thing. I'm in the us army and I am stationed in Hawaii. This is my last station my contract is up in Feb of 2015.I would really like to bring my own horse over here but my parents aren't cool with that idea, and since they are the lawful caretakers of him while I am in the military I gotta go with what they're saying.
So I'm looking for a nice gelding, 5-8 yrs old, don't really care if he's registered. I would like if he's already relatively broke, English or western. Again either is fine I ride both. And he would need to be able to be shipped on a boat.
If you know of any or have any let me know and we can talk more about it.

Would it not be easier to find a horse to buy or lease in Hawaii?

Eep, I would not make a horse suffer through that boat from Cali to Hawaii. I've seen horses fresh off of the boat and they are not a nice sight. Dehydrated and skinny. Horses (like everything else in Hawaii) are expensive. I would personally try to lease a horse in Hawaii. It'd give you more flexibility and you'd be able to lease another horse if you end up not clicking with one.

What island are you moving to?

Not really any rescues in Hawaii, although I can't speak for Oahu since I haven't lived on that island.

Have you looked through Craigslist?
Otherwise, word of mouth is probably the only way you're going to find the right horse. So try to get involved with a couple of barns and see who is selling.
