    Looking for new horse

In the next few months (May or June) we'll be moving to a small farm (25 acres). We have one horse who is currently boarded. He is an APHA gelding who is a lovely boy. We don't want to keep him alone. Anyone know of cheap/free nice horses in IL?

Our boy is healthy, friendly, and calm. He's a great kids' horse even though he's only four this year. Our new place has a huge barn with several pastures. It's self sustaining for horses. We will be able to board horses if we so choose. We intend to have chickens and my daughter would like a goat or two also. I'd like to raise a beef per year. I figure that we could get a young steer this year and next and then have some good eating in two years. The farm has a large outdoor arena since current owners do barrels.

Anyway, if anyone has a lead on a good horse or has a burning desire for a very pretty home in IL please PM me. We'll be putting our current home on the marked soon. It's a very nice house...just too large a house that has 2.38 acres.

Joshie, I've noticed (sadly) an influx of good/cheap horses on craigslist in my area as folks have been getting laid off.

    I'd keep a lookout there.

    For example:
I found one I'm tempted to get but just know I shouldn't, 9 yo APHA mare with good health and good conformation that has been there done that trails and shows and playdays...for $400. She looks much better than the pricetag would suggest.

Yes, it is way too bad. I saw an ad today for a quarter horse mare and foal for $400. The one you found would be perfect for us. Too bad you're so far away.
