    Not my horse BUT

I don't know if this is allowed, I guess I'll find out soon enough

I browse the Finger Lakes Finest every now and again, but I've never really gone Awww before, but today I have seen this guy

Finger Lakes Finest Thoroughbreds - New Price! River Mountain Road, 11 yo, 16.1 chst g

Isn't that just the handsomest face you've seen for a long time, someone go snap him up, or better yet tell me how I can transport him the 1800 miles from there to here for a very small amount?

He is certainly a beauty...but I do wonder why he is being retired at age 11...and given away for free...considering how much he's won.

Wow, what a hunk! Free, though? That sends up some red flags....

Honestly-I see free ones there every year. Several friends of mine have actually taken some of them and many are lovely. Some require "prada" shoes....(as I call the really expensive to maintain feet.... ) The track is now closed for the season. They have been "liquidating" the horses they do not want to hold over the winter or take to Florida. My guess is that at his age, he is ready, and deserves, to be retired from racing. He is not a stud, no reason for them to keep him. They need to make room for the younger ones. And, many people who are in the market for a project for the most part want younger. That is most likely why he is free. One of the free ones a friend of mine took about 3 years ago-is now 6, and just sold for $8k. He IS high maintenance as far as feet goes, with glue ones ($300) about every 8 wks.

Yeah, around that area, I'm not suprised at all that he's free. All of our OTTBs were free, except for Noah- who we paid a whole $150 for. There are SO many horses being unloaded off of the track every winter that it's useless to put much of a price on them, no matter how much they won. Just because a horse can run fast doesnt make him a good jumper, or dressage horse. It's a huge chance to take, especially with this economy.

Very true GH...someone come sneak him in our pasture ;) although his good looks might stand out just a bit with our scrubby back-yard buddies...hehe
