'Red' is a pure-bred Missouri Fox Trotter gelding with a flashy, natural foxtrot and tail carriage. I bought him as a two year old as a show prospect, but I don't have the time to work him as he should be. This gelding would be awesome for someone with the time to gain his trust and turn him into the show horse he's bred to be.
He does very well with his nine year old half brother, but likes to pick on (and bother in general) my 20-or-so rescue gelding who's just to old and docile to do much of anything anymore. He has also been kept with a band of two year olds and an old mare and did just fine.
Red is not easy to catch. He hates being haltered. Once he is caught, however, he does lead somewhat. He trailered 30 miles with absolutely no problems, it was difficult getting him into the trailer (small two horse), however. He is a very bright, curious horse that has just not been worked with since he was a yearling and needs someone who can take it slow and let him learn to trust. He's slightly mischievous and spunky. He is not a dead head, plod along horse.
This gelding as a stunning, long, true flaxen mane and tail and a lovely bright chestnut coat. He really stands out when he's groomed! My nine year old nibbled half his mane off when he was boarded with him in El Dorado, and he put a knot in it as well.
He was sired by 'Dusty's War Paint' a black and white tobiano. His dam is a long-maned flaxen chestnut. He does have papers.
I'm asking $600, or would do a full trade for 30 days of training for my nine year old. He was previously trained to ride but hasn't been ridden in about three years now. He is sound and completely halter and lead broke, he lunges but can be impatient while tied. I will provide all hay and grain for him, he just needs to be ridden by a experienced rider.
