I just bought this 12 yr old qh gelding (will) i love love love love love love him to death but i dont really think hes the horse i could really do 2 much with hes loveable gentle pretty but we think he has some illments ect but see i finally got him to canter ect.
so i could buy a younger horse and start all over and train it myself
I can understand how you feel. Well you'll have to figure out how much time you have. If you don't have enough time to work with a young horse everyday then you should stick with Will. But if you have a lot of time and are up for a challenge maybe a young horse is right. Don't give up on Will though, you might just need to find what inspires him to do more. I'm personally a fan of young horses, but I fell in love with a 16 y/o gelding who I would take over 5 young horses!!
Well, if I was in your shoes, I would find an amazing home for Will where you could see him a lot. That way you can start working with the 3 y/o. Training a horse gives you a great bond and I'm sure you'd be able to understand each other better. You'll be able to be competetive and get somewhere.
ty thats what i was thinking and im sure ill be able to see him a lot (hopeing) and ya i agree i think training is a good way to bond and will he was abused and hes a amazing horse but idk just not my kind of horse i dont think but im afraid ill feel guilty for all the things me and him went threw i retrained him to canter and loved him more then anyone else hes a good pet but not really show quility and has illment i cant really aford to fix atm
Yeah, it's sad that people abuse horses and that horses have to be so expensive. It'll be really cool if you can see Will's next owner love him!! Especially if you get to see him a lot. And then you could even be friends and go on trail rides together!
Yeah, I know how that feels. A trainer I work for just sold two of his horses. Honestly I wouldn't have let the people who bought them near the horses if they were mine. The one lady who bought one had almost no idea how to ride. I recently found out that she fell of and broke her ankle. Maybe having a 30-day trial would be a good thing. They would have some time to decide whether they really want him and you can make sure that they're a fitting home for him. It's hard to pretend to be good for 30 whole days.
