    Price?

I was wondering what you guys thought we be a good price for Blu. I was planning on selling him for $1500 but I want other opinions. What do you guys think?

    Name: Bluboi
    Sex: Gelding
    Height: 16.1hh
    Weight: 1,100
    Color: FewSpot Appaloosa
    Age: 9yrs.
Disciplines: Western riding, 4-H, Rodeo, has done some jumping without purpose :) Barrel prospect
Other: Blu is a gentle giant but needs an intermediate...preferably experienced rider...due to his energy and stubborness. He's a very sweet boy. Being abused, this horse has had an amazing recovery. He is just about bomb-proof!

I'd list him at $1200 or best offer with the market the way it is. The big market right now is for beginners horses it seems.

I'm still undecided on price so its $1500 OBO if he doesn't sell within the next couple of months I'll reduce.

I think that would be a good price for him...and I think probably you could get a little more! He's such a pretty boy!

You really think so, Sonny? Lol. I don't get that a lot from people in town. No respect for the unusual

Don't worry...I've had sooooo many people in town tell me that I over paid for Sonny and that he wasn't worth half as much as I paid...

I think Blu is really pretty...which will up the price...he is young again which can increase the price...he has fairly good conformation which will upp the price...and is that a flaxen mane I see? Hehe

If I was selling Blu I would price him probably at $1750-$2000 depending on the market...in NY you could get that much for him quickly (at least in the county that I'm in...but of course I'm near Saratoga...the big racing city so that's why).
I'd say price him at $2000 and put OBO...normally what people do for anything is they price it high and then haggle down that way you have more of a change to get the actual ammount for what you are selling.

Example: I paid $100 for my western saddle...I just really want $100 for my saddle...but I have it on consignment for $150 due to most people will haggle the price to try to buy it cheaper

$1200.00 would be on the high side, you're more than likely going to get around $1000.00 if you luck out for him. He is pretty but he's not for a beginner and has been abused in the past which turns alot of people off. I'll assume he isn't registered?

Just from looking over the photos and reading the description you gave, I'd have to say that you have an above-average horse there. And his being that large doesn't hurt none either.

Twere it me, and if I was in the market for a horse, I'd expect to pay anywhere bewteen $800-$900 for him.
Under different market conditions, he would bring a lot more. And he might anyway, IF you hold out long enough and IF you find the right buyer.

Thing about selling a horse though..... sometimes the "holding-out" cost ya more in upkeep than the difference that you was holding-out for.
Considering the cost of feed, hay, farriers and Vets these days....I usualy figure that even if I give one away, after about 6 or 8 months of no upkeep cost, I'm still money ahead.

He can't be just about bomb proof if " he needs an intermediate...preferably experienced rider".

I believe he can. He is not afraid of almost all things. He is just high strung.
