I like everything about #7. She looks like a teeny bit uphill but nothing like major. She has a nicely rump and straight legs. I also like how her neck goes into her body.

Thanks everyone for the feedback on these mares.

After looking at them more closely (additional photos and info from sellers), I am finding that there are really none that stand out to me that I MUST HAVE. There are a couple that I find really nice, but then they have the blue eyes with pink around, which I just cannot get past, or they have not been tested hypp, or they turn out to be much shorter than advertised.

I am going to keep my eyes open, but I think I will save for another year, so that I have more $$ to invest. Maybe there will be more really nice prospects in the next up price bracket. I have to remember that this mare will be bought with intentions of competing and breeding - I really want to find the right horse, and I am not seeing her yet!

Thanks for helping me out with this guys, and I hope you will be willing to do so again in another year. :) Though I am postponing the mare shopping, this has helped me to figure out how to look more critically and really know what I want from our future mare. :)

Im not much for the last set of photos on the last horse. There is just something odd about the mare.

Horse #6 I just adore tho. The conformation is quite good and the horse seems to have a lovely temper.

Are you still searching?

We am trying to put the search on hold for one more year, but we are trying to keep my eyes open so that we don't miss the "right" mare. We have our foal coming in late April, so we will have our hands pretty full. I definitely just want to keep all doors open.

I do really like mare #6 the more I look at her. She does not have the Impressive breeding, which can be so much of an issue when people have not bothered to test, and she does not have the blue eyes. She has really nicely placed color, and she looks pretty elegantly put together. I would want to know for sure that she was truly 16hh, but she would definitely be worth looking into more. One problem with her is that the seller is not really interested in selling her, but is going to college, so can no longer afford her - she is trying to convince parents for help keeping her.

Just a thought...

Does anyone/everyone think that mare #6 seems nice enough to have a friend that lives in that area go look at her and gather more info about her? Is she nice enough to consider jumping ahead a year with plans, or keep looking?

#6 has a very steep croup, but otherwise I like her.
