Many people with bigger breeds (warmbloods or drafts) don't start them until 5-6 to allow them to completely grow and fill out. I'm not saying this my personal opinion. Many "classical" breeders very much believe in starting horses later than would be considered the norm. It is different...Especially to western riders who start them at two
Personally I feel for most horses 3-4 is great :)
