Red Roan Gelding

Preacher is an 8 year old grade red roan QH gelding. He is built for english/western pleasure. Nice slow animated trot and lope. Very pretty movements. He is green and needs some work before I would call him completely broke. When I got him he wouldn't take a bit (did great with just a halter), wouldn't go anywhere near a clipper and hardly stood for the farrier. He wouldn't ride by himself and he didn't know any cues. Now he will take a bit, I can clip his nose so far, stands ok for the farrier but still needs a little work, will ride by himself as long as you let him know you won't let him get away with taking you back to the barn. I've been teaching how to yield his hindquarters under saddle and he is doing great. He is a very pretty horse but I don't like how slow he is. He does fine in a stall, ok with other horses, dogs and goats. He leads, ties and lunges. He is a willing and quiet horse, learns really quickly. I just don't like riding him. He does make an awesome trail horse. Just put him behind another horse and you don't have to worry about him. Not spooky. Walked him around the neighborhood without a problem on lead. Was used as a trail horse before I got him.

He is not a dead broke horse. He will try to take you back to the barn. Doesn't buck, rear or bolt just turns in slow circles or stops several times. Once you get going he is fine. If there is another horse in front of him he is great. He also likes to neigh when he is by himself. I think he'd do really good with 30 days on him.

$700
May Trade

OMG- I have been looking for a red roan gelding! Unfortunately I need one that is AQHA. Bummer.

He looks uber cute Wouldn't wanna trade for a slow going Buckskin mare would ya? XD

I got the same problem with her. Real sweet and easy, doesn't try to take you back to the barn, broke, etc. I really just don't like riding her!

Wait! I'll fix it....

He's got one of those laid back shy puppy dog personalities. When I first looked at him and rode him I thought we clicked. Now I'm stuck looking at the back end of my horse because he can't keep up and won't ride in front of her. No amount of let's go will make him walk any faster. The thing I like about him is you could fall asleep in the saddle he is so comfortable at a walk and has a real comfortable trot. My Haflinger mare nearly bounces you out of the saddle when she walks.

My husband won't ride him because he says it feels like he is sitting on a fence post. He isn't bulky enough for my 6 foot 200 pound dear hubbie to feel comfortable.

Here are a few more pics.
