"Lily" was purchased for me as a 12yo when she was only 4yrs old. I've always called her my "QH in disguise" because of her calm, quiet demeanor. She absolutely ADORES children (we were told she was possibly owned by an orphanage & raised by the children). Easy to work around & handle, even for kids. Will let you get away with almost anything (I've stood on her back while it was hailing rain on a steel roofed barn). Has never bit/kicked. Can stand on her, slide off her butt, ride backwards, walk under her. Very easy to handle. While she does like children & I've always felt comfortable tossing kids up on her back (with someone or by themselves), she is NOT a beginner horse. Lily still is an Arabian. She's prone to being a little flighty & energetic. That's not to say I haven't tossed beginners on her or let them work with her. My 12yo sister rides this mare by herself no problem all the time. Has done a little of everything throughout the years. Hunter/Jumper (has not jumped in years - schooled around 2ft), Western Pleasure, Trails (prefers to be with other horses), Dressage (professionally trained by Melanie Sus of PM Farms Mid 07 to Late 08), Speed (just for fun), Bareback. W/T/C. Lightly shown throughout the 8yrs I've owned her - hasn't been to a show since '08. Mostly ridden just for pleasure right now & schooled occasionally in Dressage to keep her fresh. Will pick up after months off like she was never given time off. Very sensitive mare. Only ever been ridden in Eggbutt or D-Ring Snaffles. Moves off leg pressure/leg yields. Selling as I haven't had time for her & she's just going to waste sitting in the barn. Mostly ridden by my 12yo sister (pictured with) or by beginners. Real nice mare that would do well with an older kid. Gets along well with dogs, cats, people, etc. Is the dominant mare out in the pasture. Likes other horses but does not like her space invaded.
Has never been bred but has the bloodlines to make a nice broodmare. I've considered breeding her myself the past few years, but don't have the place for it.
Goes barefoot (has never needed shoes). Trimmed every 6wks or earlier if feet get cracked/chipped. UTD on shots. Doesn't leave the barn so no Coggins (will be done if serious inquiry).
Located: Southwest Chicago Suburbs Price: $5,000 OBO Pictures: Riders pictured are NOT me (except for picture above & Dressage). Young girl is my sister at different ages throughout the years, young woman is a novice/intermediate rider (rode Lily while I was away at school), & winter shot is her with a beginner (his 4th ride).
