He is so completely huggable! I wish...

1. I had the skills, knowledge and experience to bring on a youngster
2. Had more time
3. Lived closer
4. All of the above!

Your ad was great and please please please, post some of the responses you get as I bet some will be hilarious! :)

Love the ad GH! Hunkadian, that's great! No clue as to what you should ask for him, but if you do sell him you better add in your sale contract that the new owners are required to join on here and give us photo updates!

*plugs ears* Lalalalala! I can't hear you!

In my mind Stewie is NOT for sale. No, absolutely not. I can not, will not acknowledge such a thing! I can not have another horse. I can not have another horse. I have too many big huge monsters as it is.

On a serious note, I really can't give you an estimation on price. Around here, anyways, weanlings - even very, very nice ones - go for next to nothing. If you want to get anything out of them, you need to hang on to them until they are 2-3 and at least started. That's why I have never put Fiona up for sale yet, though I have never intended to keep her forever.

I'm in Canada right along with you, and in Manitoba so similar price point as far as equine economy goes. Unfortunately, as darling and rare as Stewie is, he probably wouldn't fetch more then a couple hundred over here. Shay-la just sold a 2 year old registerable Appaloosa colt for $500. I know a few APHA breeders selling registerable weanling stock for about $400. The market sucks for youngsters right now - his price would increase 10x if you got him to 2-3 years old and got him greenbroke. Unfortunately, hard to determine what the economy will do. Also consider, however, that marketing is EVERYTHING - Shay-la sold a 3 year old greenbroke mongrol pony for $2500 a few years ago because she managed to convince some people she WAS worth that much when she was worth MAYBE $1,000 at the time. Granted, she was a phenomenal trail horse and the family loves her, but Shay-la has consistently sold horses for significantly more then they're worth in the past just from convincing people they NEED this horse.

That being said, I think you should keep him.

LOL, that's the trouble, I look at Stewie through Rose colored glasses, he IS just a grade colt, albeit a cute one, but I seriously have no idea what he is going to grow into.

If he has the temperament that build obviously leads him to be a great weight carrying trail horse.

BUT, I still wonder if he is going to have 'something' about him that may make him able to compete successfully in some discipline or other, although quite what thick legged big guys with short thick necks are good at I'm not so sure:lol:
