TB Gelding in PA for sale

Thoroughbred Gelding, Chestnut
Chester County, PA
Offered for: $2300
Height: 16.1hh
Weight: 1200lbs.
Not registered, but has racing tattoo
4/10 Temperament
Markings: left hind sock, star

Special Effects, "Drake"

To good home only. I have owned Drake for a little more than a year and he was my first horse, but as I move up, he's not exactly for me anymore and I hate to see him go. He is 16.1hh and has a great temperament and willing with just about anything. He needs a rider that will tell him what they want him to do. He likes ring work and LOVES jumping and is eager to any fence. Would be a good prospect for jumper, hunter, pleasure horse. UTD on shots, worming, and has current coggins. He is an easy keeper. Clips, bathes, loads, cross ties. More pictures available.

He is beautiful!
I just don't have the money. =(
You should not have any problems selling him if you put him on other sites as well.

UPDATE: I've had Drake for sale for a few weeks, but only one response. They didn't like him at all. There is a girl that can come see him in like a month... she sounds great for him. I don't know what I can do to get the business moving. I feel like I should lower the price, but I still need a good amount to buy my next horse. Any suggestions? THANKS
Laura

Unfortunately with the economy the way it is right now, horses are completely a buyers market.

For $2300 someone can get a nice young Thoroughbred, or a nice show horse that someone may need to just get rid of quickly.
Your horse is 17 years old this year, right?
Unfortunately, I can pressume that that is one factor that is deterring buyers from your horse at this price. Most people assume (Not what I believe, but it is how many people think) that a Thoroughbred at that age is going to have leg/joint issues, due to racing and the wear/tear over the years. When they can get a younger Thoroughbred or possibly a young off-the-track project for that much or less.

Lowering the price would probably get you more inquiries. Hate to say it, but in these times its true.

Good luck!

I have to totally agree. My horse is a 7 year old TB never raced. I paid $1000 for her just because the owner/breeder who had her could not afford all her horses and I wanted to help her out. (honestly she was already mine for free but I wanted to be fair) In our area there was a very nice 6 yr old QH that was for sale for months. We looked at her when she was $3000. I passed but always thought she was a nice horse and just not worth that much. Well they just dropped her price to zero. There is nothing wrong with her but they lost their job. Someone is geting a great little horse for nothing.

That is just the way it is. What type of horse are you looking for? Perhaps you could trade. Maybe someone is looking for a calm older horse and you could train for more of a project?

good luck.

Has he ever been shown?
There is a 15 year old girl at our barn looking for a quiet horse to show locally.

No, he has never shown while I have owned him, but probably has in his past. Most likely.

I have lowered his price to $1800 to give that a go.
