If you are not dead set on a gelding, I have a friend with an awesome little appy mare for sale. She is NOT marish at all, I have known her since she was a year old and you would never know when she is in season. Superb riding horse, the last time I rode her she was w/t/c and jumping around 3ft without batting an eyelash. No spooking at all, very calm and mild mannered. She isn't incredibly fast, but she is NOT a slug, and will pick up and move out with no issue when asked, or will plod along the tails. Very pretty palomino with a blanket. If you are interested just drop me a pm and I can give my friend a call to see if she still has her. She also has a nice Arab cross (from what we can guess, no idea what he really is), really athletic talented jumper, we had him schooling 4ft at one point, but he can be a bit forward, and he requires a rider with soft hands. Not hard to stop, but if you haul on his mouth he will run through your hands (ex-lesson horse, they sold him because he does not tolerate begginers well. Wouldn't do anything naughty, just had to much "go" for begginer kids)
A good place to go in NC is Baldwin Training Center, Deanna is fantastic and really knows her stuff. My gelding spent a few months at her barn. She is wonderful at helping people pick out the right horse, and is honest to boot, she wont sell you something if she doesnt think it is a good match.
