Well it is official, the boys are for sale

So it is official, we are going to have to sell my boys. I rode them both around lose the other day and they did great for having not been ridden in weeks. They will, of course, need some work especially having to get use to new people. I have been crying everytime I sit down to think about what I am going to do with them. This way it is fair to them...they wont be sitting around for 4 or more years while I am stationed in another state or country with my husband.

I was planning to leave them with a friend but right now that isnt looking like an option and the place they would be going recently had a strangles outbreak... And to top it off right now they look horrible because the place they are at isnt taking proper care of them and its winter so they are excessively wooly.

I could really use some encouragement about having to sell them

I was in the same spot as you when I made the tough decision to sell my first horse back in May of 2012. I was heartbroken with the thought of it, but he is so happy now. I didn't do it for me, I did it for the well-being of my horse. It's hard at first, but gets easier as time goes on.

I'm sorry you feel you had to make that choice, but it sounds like it is going to be the best solution for all involved. If I read your post the other day correctly you have not gelded your stud as of yet....I do hope you will do so prior to any sale.

I have made the same decision recently. It is very hard, but one that I feel good about. It is for the good of my boy, and that's whats important when it comes right down to it.
