My husband is considering selling his 11 yr old mare so I want to get opinions to find out what you would pay for her. Our friends said 3000 but I'm not sure. She is APHA breeding stock. She is not registered but she is registerable meaning we have her papers but parentage needs to be verified. She's well broke, trails great, she's been started in the box, tracking cows. She's been exposed to ranch work, sorting and has been used in a ranch rodeo. Here are a few pics....
She's grade, which doesn't bother me at all but for the sake of this will assume it bothers a buyer. She's not a seasoned cow horse. Nor does she have the cow horse butt I like. Or gaming horse. Assuming she's calm, ties, trailers, etc... I wouldn't give over $1000. That would be the very high end for me. Now that being said, I don't know the market in your area. But here an average fun/safe horse is $5-700. Posted via Mobile Device
I agree with the above estimate on value. 7-800 would probably be a good estimate and no more than 1000.00 though again if you register then your probably going to sit around 1600-1700.
The horse is 11 years old and her parentage would have to be verified in order for her to be registered? Yeah, that is NOT a sale point. She's grade. Unless you shell out the bucks yourself to have her registered, you shouldn't even mention that she might be able to be registered.
