Would this be a good trade?

I was looking on my local listing for Kijiji, and this mare came up:

The owner is looking for a trail horse under 15.2.
My mare Sonya is completely sound on trails, has never spooked. She is 15 hh, trailers perfectly, and has no health issues, basically what the owner of the mare is looking for.

I have came across this mare a few times in my searches on the web, and always have the urge to contact the owners.

I have been looking for a new horse for a while, just because I don't think Sonya is the right fit for me, even though I have had her for almost 4 years. I want to compete in hunter, but Sonya just doesn't seem happy doing that kind of work. She loves going out on the trails and I think that is where she belongs.

Anyway, here's a pic of my mare:

So, do you think her owners would be interested in the trade? Should I even bother contacting them?

Don't see why not. If you both have what the other is looking for you might as well trade. I've done this a few times myself because sometimes its just easier and everyone gets what they want.

Well, I emailed the owner. She wants me to send pictures of Sonya, so I sent her the above as well as a few others.
I will update when she emails back.

I hope you like her mare and you guys can come to an agreement. Her mare is very pretty and I'm sure that Sonya would be very happy with a strictly trail home.

I don't see why not. Both sound like great mares. You will have to both test them to be sure, though. I've done several trades over the years and sometimes I've got a horse that was worth more than the one I traded and visa versa but so long as it's a good fit for the two of you nothing else should matter.
Both mares I have now in fact came on a trade.
The bay mare's confo isnt bad either, though she is a bit posty in her back legs, she looks like she could be really athletic.
Only way you'll know is to ask! When I got Chico I really didnt think her owners would go for a trade because the mare I had wasnt worth as much (in my opinion) as Chico. We ended up taking them on a week long trial and thankfully both of us liked the other's horse so all went well.
Hope it does for you!
