Looking to find a new show horse for next year. We will just do local/4H stuff for now, though breed show quality would be great. Must be able to excel in western pleasure (stock horse), would like to have hunt seat potential as well. AQHA or APHA preferred, but just about anything considered (though no gaited). 15+ hh please.
I am a confident/ advanced beginner to intermediate rider, I guess. I've been riding for about a year and a half, with 1-2 lessons a week, been leasing a greener mare since September (riding 3-4 times weekly including lessons), and have done fine with her. I just want something a bit less high maintenance to buy.
Doesn't have to be a schoolmaster, babysitter type. If it needs some finishing that's ok (we will continue with lessons, have a great instructor) - but it must be absolutely SAFE, sane and sound. Mare or gelding, probably looking at 8-20 years old. Should not be high maintenance, so 2-3 rides a week and it's ready to show, should not require extensive lounging prior to riding. Should play well with others in pasture.
And lastly, my budget is small, so I'm trying not to be picky- if you've got a horse that sounds like a good match, let me know! I'm looking for horses priced $2000 and below(I know it's not a lot, but I'm holding out hope for something). I would also be interested in a free lease at my barn (so off farm for you).
